About Us
The San Diego Garden Railway Society formed in 1988, when a few folks gathered to swap stories on the construction, operation and landscaping of G-scale garden railroads. Today we are over 100 family memberships strong.
Although our club is serious about trains, we try not to take ourselves too seriously. SDGRS primary objective is to learn, socialize and have a lot of fun. If you don’t have experience in the fun department, don’t worry we will train you.
Becoming a member has it perks:
You will have access to our monthly open houses where we gather to see member layouts. Some are in the early stages of development while others have been featured in national and local magazines, HDTV and a variety of television programs.
Members also receive a monthly newsletter with helpful ‘how to’ articles and information on upcoming events, train shows and conventions. Plus, there are free hands-on clinics. Learn about lighting, rock building, how to place a water feature in your layout and more.
We also host an annual free member luncheon with auction, where people enjoy a wonderful feast while bidding on items faster than a speeding locomotive.
If you like trains as much as we do, we encourage you to hop on board and join our club.
SDGRS is a not for profit organization. All ages are welcome and no experience is necessary.
Please contact us if you would like to be a guest at one of our monthly open houses.
